Expedition Advisory
Last updated: 10 July 2026
1. Introduction
Expedition Advisory ("we", "us", "our") provides expedition and small-ship travel advisory services through expeditionadvisory.co (the "Website"). We are based in Australia and are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and disclose it, and the choices and rights available to you. By using the Website or submitting your details to us, you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information we collect
We collect personal information you provide directly to us, including when you complete our "Get in Touch" enquiry form, book a call, message us, or sign up for updates. This may include:
- Contact details — first and last name, email address, phone number.
- Trip preferences — destination, planning stage, budget range and currency, number of guests, and preferred travel timeframe.
- Any additional information you choose to share with us, such as questions or comments submitted through the form.
- Marketing preference — whether you have opted in to receive travel tips and offers from us.
- Booking and communication details if you schedule a call with us via Calendly, or contact us via WhatsApp or email.
We also automatically collect limited technical and usage information when you browse the Website, as described in Section 5 (Cookies and tracking technologies).
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- respond to your enquiry and provide personalised expedition travel advice and recommendations;
- liaise with expedition operators and travel partners on your behalf to source options, quotes, and availability relevant to your enquiry;
- schedule and conduct match calls or other requested communications;
- send you marketing communications, such as travel tips and special offers, where you have opted in — you can unsubscribe at any time;
- measure and improve the performance of our advertising, including through retargeting; and
- maintain, operate, and improve the Website and our services generally.
4. Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose it to the following categories of third parties, only as needed to provide our services:
- FormSubmit.co — the form-processing service that transmits your enquiry form submission to our email inbox.
- Meta Platforms, Inc. (Meta Pixel and Conversions API) — used to measure ad performance and to build and refine retargeting audiences on Facebook and Instagram. See Section 5 for more detail.
- Calendly — used if you book a call with us directly through our scheduling link.
- Expedition operators and travel partners — relevant trip details may be shared with third-party operators solely to obtain quotes or arrange the travel you have enquired about.
- Professional advisers, or regulators and law enforcement, where required or permitted by law.
Some of these third parties may store or process information on servers located outside Australia (for example, in the United States). Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the APPs.
5. Cookies and tracking technologies
Our Website uses the Meta Pixel and Meta Conversions API to understand how visitors interact with our pages and ads, measure the effectiveness of our advertising, and show relevant ads to people who have previously visited our Website (retargeting). This may involve the use of cookies and similar technologies, and information shared with Meta may be combined with other data Meta holds about you in accordance with Meta's own privacy policy.
You can manage or opt out of interest-based advertising through your Facebook/Instagram ad preferences, or by adjusting your browser's cookie settings. Disabling cookies may affect how some parts of the Website function.
6. Data storage and security
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law.
7. Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), you have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you and to request that it be corrected if it is inaccurate, out of date, or incomplete. You may also withdraw consent to marketing communications at any time.
To make a request, contact us using the details in Section 9. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
8. Children's privacy
Our Website and services are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18.
