Independent advice across multiple operators
Complimentary — at no cost to you

You're about to spend somewhere between $8,000 and $50,000+ on one of the biggest holidays of your life. Spending a little time getting independent, complimentary advice first simply makes sense — before you book direct or otherwise.

Independent advice

We work for you, not for any operator

We're not affiliated with a single expedition operator. Operators pay us a commission when a traveller books through us — it comes out of the operator's margin, not yours, and it's not what drives our recommendation. We recommend the expedition that suits you, and we compare operators, ships and itineraries side by side to get there.

  • We are not tied to a single expedition operator.
  • We recommend what suits you or your group based on the information you tell us.
  • We compare multiple operators, ships and itineraries objectively.

We work with many of the world's leading expedition operators — but our advice starts with what's right for you, not what's best for any particular company.

Time & risk

We do the research most people don't have time for

Planning an expedition properly means researching operators, ships, itineraries, cabins, inclusions and expedition styles — often dozens of hours before you're close to a decision. As an independent expedition cruise consultant, we do that research and hand you a personalised shortlist, with the trade-offs already explained.

Without Expedition Advisory

  • Compare 15+ operators
  • Compare 40+ itineraries
  • Read hundreds of reviews
  • Decode cabin categories
  • Understand activity differences
  • Figure out flight timing
  • Compare inclusions, ship to ship

With Expedition Advisory

We do all of that before we ever make a recommendation.

You get a personalised shortlist with the trade-offs already explained — not a spreadsheet of homework.

No cost to you

Our advice is free.

You’ll pay the same price booking through us as you would booking direct—and in some cases, we can even secure exclusive offers or added value that isn’t available publicly.

This costs you nothing extra — the price is the same either way. That means you get independent advice from experienced expedition professionals and avoid spending weeks or even months researching operators, ships and itineraries yourself.

Expert guidance. No extra cost.

Second opinion

Already found a cruise you like?

Send us your shortlist — or even a single itinerary — and we'll review it free of charge and tell you honestly whether we think it's a good choice. If we think you've already found the right expedition, we'll tell you that too.

Who we are

Built by expedition crew. Designed for travellers.

Expedition Advisory was founded by former expedition staff Kieran and Juliana, who have spent years working aboard expedition ships. Our team has worked as guides and lecturers, skippered zodiacs, guided shore landings and kayak excursions, piloted submersibles, and served in operational roles.

Having completed more than 50 Antarctic voyages, as well as seasons in the Arctic, Kimberley and Sub-Antarctic, they provide advice grounded in real operational experience — not just brochures or marketing material.

Exclusive to booked clients

A pre-departure briefing built on real expedition experience

Booking your expedition is just the beginning. As an Expedition Advisory client, you'll be invited to an exclusive live online pre-departure briefing designed to help you get the most from your expedition before you even step aboard. It's an opportunity to learn from our experience, gain practical insights, and ask any questions you may have before you travel.

This isn't a marketing webinar or a summary of your operator's welcome pack. It's an insider's briefing from someone who's spent many years working in expedition operations aboard expedition ships — leading shore landings, driving zodiacs, guiding sea kayaking, piloting submersibles, and delivering expeditions in some of the world's most remote and remarkable places.

We'll cover:

  • An introduction to the region you're visiting, including the wildlife, landscapes, and what to expect.
  • What expedition cruising is really like, day to day.
  • How zodiac operations and shore landings work, and what to expect.
  • Wildlife etiquette and why these guidelines matter.
  • Practical packing advice that goes beyond the standard checklist.
  • Photography tips for wildlife and expedition travel.
  • Life aboard an expedition vessel.
  • Common mistakes first-time expedition travellers make — and how to avoid them.
  • A live Q&A where you can ask questions specific to your voyage.

Our goal is simple: to ensure you arrive feeling informed, confident, and ready to make the most of every moment of your expedition. It's just one more way we support our clients long after the booking is complete.

Mini-FAQ

Questions we hear often

What does an expedition cruise travel advisor actually do?
We compare operators, ships and itineraries, recommend what genuinely suits you, and support the planning around your voyage — flights, accommodation, packing and logistics — at no cost to you.
Does it really cost the same as booking direct?
Yes. If you book through us, pricing is the same as booking directly with the operator. You're not paying us a fee, and the operator isn't charging you more to have us involved.
If it's free, how do you make money?
We're paid by the operator when you book through us — not by you. It's not why we recommend one trip over another — fit is — and it doesn't affect your price either way.
I've already chosen a ship — can you still help?
Send it over. We'll review it free of charge and tell you honestly whether we think it's the right choice — including if we think it already is.
Do you push certain operators?
No, but we are selective in the operators we work with. If they have a bad reputation we do not maintain partnerships with them. We're always upfront when an option is genuinely the better fit for you.
What happens after I book?
You get complimentary Expedition Concierge support — flights, accommodation, destination advice, packing and logistics — plus an invitation to our live pre-departure briefing, covering what to expect, wildlife, landings and photography before you sail.

Choosing the right expedition can make the difference between a good trip and the journey of a lifetime. Our job is to help you make that decision with confidence.
