Falklands, South Georgia & Antarctica aboard Ocean Victory
A 20-day wildlife journey with Polar Latitudes, linking three remarkable regions with the comfort of a modern expedition ship. Travel from 27 December 2027 to 15 January 2028.
Three regions. One immersive wildlife journey.
The appeal is the combination: the birdlife of the Falklands, South Georgia’s immense wildlife colonies and the ice-filled Antarctic Peninsula. Ocean Victory offers a comfortable base for the longer passages, with balcony options and inviting shared spaces between outings. We would shortlist it for travellers who want the broader journey and are happy to commit to the sea time it requires.
Wildlife-focused travellers who want to compare all three regions, with comfortable accommodation between expedition days.
A late-December journey with time in both South Georgia and Antarctica, plus a modern X-Bow ship and a range of balcony cabins.
Several open-ocean crossings are part of the experience. Weather, ice and permissions determine the daily programme, and cabin layout matters on a journey this long.

This is an expedition itinerary rather than a sequence of guaranteed ports. The captain and expedition leader adjust the programme for weather, ice, wildlife and local restrictions. We confirm exact dates, ship and cabin costs before recommending a sailing.

Your expedition, day by day
The operator’s published route includes a hotel night before embarkation. The outline below is a plan, with each landing dependent on conditions.
Arrive in Ushuaia
Check into the included hotel and settle in before embarkation. Leave time to recover from your flights and explore the waterfront.
Embark Ocean Victory
Transfer to Ocean Victory, meet the expedition team and attend the safety briefing. The Beagle Channel marks the beginning of life aboard.

Southern Ocean
Sail towards the Falklands, with expedition briefings and time on deck. Keep binoculars handy for seabirds around the ship.
West Falklands
Coastal walks and seabird colonies introduce the first island landscapes. Penguin and albatross encounters depend on the sites and conditions.
Stanley, East Falkland
Discover Stanley and the human history of the islands. The sheltered harbour provides a different perspective after the wildlife-focused western islands.

Crossing to South Georgia
Two sea days bring lectures and seabird watching as the voyage continues east. Balance time outdoors with the ship’s quieter shared spaces.

South Georgia
Four planned days bring penguin colonies, seals and dramatic mountain scenery. Grytviken is a possible history-focused visit; all landings depend on local access and conditions.

Scotia Sea
Continue south, watching for icebergs and wildlife between presentations. These sea days connect South Georgia with the Antarctic part of the journey.
Antarctic Peninsula & South Shetland Islands
Four planned expedition days combine landings and Zodiac exploration among ice-filled bays. The team chooses sites around weather, ice and wildlife.

Drake Passage
Turn north towards South America, with time to review photographs and enjoy the final expedition recaps as the voyage draws to a close.
Disembark in Ushuaia
Disembark in the morning. We can help plan sensible onward flight timing or a longer stay in Tierra del Fuego.

The ship and your cabin

The operating difference
Ocean Victory is a purpose-built, ice-strengthened expedition ship with a full fleet of Zodiacs, extensive outdoor viewing decks and a dedicated lecture theatre and library. The X-Bow and sheltered expedition facilities support life at sea, but motion and rotating landing groups remain part of expedition travel.
Wildlife encounters and expedition spaces
Ocean Victory pairs an active outdoor programme, from bow-side whale watching to lecture-room briefings, with comfortable expedition-style interiors.
