Your expedition
Day-by-day plan
Broome to Darwin, or reverse. This is a guide to the experience; the order and daily activities adapt to conditions.
Broome or Darwin
Embark in the gateway town stated for your departure. Broome departures include the published meeting-point transfer; Darwin boarding times vary. Use the final joining instructions when arranging your arrival.

King George River and Vansittart Bay
The expedition explores the King George gorge, with waterfall flow dependent on the season, and Vansittart Bay’s rock art and preserved wartime aircraft. These visits are scheduled around tides and access.

Bigge Island, Careening Bay and river country
Explore remote shores, cultural sites and mangrove-lined waterways. The published programme also includes Prince Regent River and King Cascade. The order is flexible rather than a fixed daily port sequence.

Montgomery Reef and the Buccaneer Archipelago
Expedition tenders approach the tidal reef and coastal scenery. Horizontal Falls is a viewing opportunity subject to current access rules; no passage through the falls is promised.
Doubtful Bay and Lacepede Islands
Scenic cruising, guided walks and birdlife round out the route. Optional Mitchell Falls helicopter flights are an additional cost and depend on operating conditions.
Disembark in Darwin or Broome
Disembark and take the included hotel or airport transfer. Allow a sensible flight buffer; we will check the joining and disembarkation instructions for your exact sailing.
Wildlife sightings and landings depend on conditions and local access. The confirmed departure programme controls your final travel plan.

Your ship and life aboard
Coral Geographer, Coral Adventurer or Coral Discoverer
The published 2027 programme uses Coral Geographer, Coral Adventurer and Coral Discoverer. The fleet has expedition tenders and Zodiacs, dining and lounge spaces, and expert-led briefings. Cabin layouts and capacity differ between ships, so the ship name is a key part of the recommendation.

Cabins and suites
Choose the ship first
Request the deck plan for the actual sailing. Compare window type, deck position, bedding and access to outside spaces rather than assuming identical cabins across the fleet.
Compare the complete cabin fare
We will check twin and solo pricing, offers and the exact category. The published starting fare is not a promise of a particular cabin.

Expedition Advisory guidance
Make the whole journey work
Allow at least one night before embarkation and additional travel days. March and April can favour waterfall flow; winter is a different experience. The route is shaped by tides and local permissions, so choose the season as carefully as the ship.
