Your expedition
Day-by-day plan
Darwin to Broome. This is a guide to the experience; the order and daily activities adapt to conditions.
Darwin
Embark and meet the expedition team before sailing for the Kimberley. Some departures can operate in reverse; this describes the July 2027 Darwin-Broome route.

King George River
Explore the sandstone gorge by Zodiac. The twin falls are fed by wet-season rainfall, so their flow varies.
Vansittart Bay
Explore the rock art, coastal scenery and wartime aircraft site.
Ashmore Reef
Visit Australia’s remote marine park within permitted access rules. A Zodiac cruise may be possible; landings are not promised.
Bigge Island and Careening Bay
Explore rock art and coastal history, including the published Mermaid Boab Tree visit.

Swift Bay
Discover the Bonaparte Archipelago’s inlet scenery and rock art sites, with Zodiac outings shaped by conditions.
Hunter River
Explore mangroves and river wildlife. An optional Mitchell Falls helicopter flight is an additional cost.

Collier Bay
Explore tidal reef and bay scenery around Montgomery Reef and Talbot Bay. No passage through Horizontal Falls is promised.
Lacepede Islands
Explore by Zodiac around this important seabird and turtle habitat when conditions allow. Landings are not permitted.
Broome
Disembark after breakfast and take the published town or airport coach transfer. The operator recommends flights no earlier than 13:00.
Wildlife sightings and landings depend on conditions and local access. The confirmed departure programme controls your final travel plan.

Make the whole journey work
Choose a panoramic-window twin cabin if views and natural light matter, and compare the deck position before paying more for a suite. Arrive early in the embarkation city. The published return-day flight guideline is a minimum, not a guarantee that every connection will work.
